As DAN's flagship intervention, Community Action for Rehabilitation and Empowerment (CARE) is dedicated to empowering Differently Abled Persons. We actively reach Nagaland's unreached communities, facilitating their rehabilitation and leveraging local resources to foster independence, inclusion and self-sufficiency.
The CARE Disability initiative primarily aims at reaching out to every differently abled person in Nagaland and facilitate their mainstreaming through linking to the existing government schemes and programmes as well as support systems by institutions, NGOs, CSOs and FBOs.
The initiative believes in generating community responses for making a more inclusive and enabling environment for the differently abled. Focused and consistent awareness creation interventions are carried out with every section of the community on regular basis. Community response teams on disability are formed, capacitated and nurtured.
The Differently Abled People's organizations, involving the PwDs and their family members are nurtured and capacitated at every community. These organizations are further linked to block, district and state level organizations. The DPOs advocate for disability rights and inclusion in the community level and provide support to each other in times of distress.
We host Home-Based Trainings and Family Fellowships in every block, bringing together Persons with Disabilities and their caregivers. These events are vibrant celebrations of their lives, forged in collaboration with the community and local churches. They provide a crucial opportunity for everyone to gain a firsthand understanding of life with a disability.
CARE's skill development initiatives are designed to meet the fundamental economic needs of Persons with Disabilities and their immediate caregivers. We deliver essential skilling and income generation programs directly to their homes, ensuring accessibility and immediate impact. For those with greater aptitude, we facilitate advanced training opportunities through collaborations with specialized service providers.
The project consistently reaches out to the beneficiaries with facilitation for treatment and procuring assistive devices. While government schemes are utilized wherever possible; the organization partners with other organizations and groups in providing support to those who are yet to undergo assessment and certification.
